With reference to your communication of the 30th

April, No.15610/1902, forwarding a letter signed by all

the Marines now serving in the police force, Hong Kong, in

which they apply to be discharged from the Royal Marines

in order that they may be permanently attached to the

police, I am commanded by my Lords Commissioners of the

Admiralty to acquaint you that they have approved of the

free

men being finally discharged from the Corps of Royal

A

Marines, and the necessary orders will be given to the

Commander-in-Chief on the China Station.

I am to add that my Lords will no longer be

responsible for these men in any way.
